Butterflies are free
Do you like insects? The answer can be "yes" or "no". But if it is a butterfly, the sight of its bright coloured wings might drive us to learn about its life. I have been curious about the wonderful life of butterflies for so long and it's that curiosity that drove me to Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.
Collector's items
I was amazed to find a collection of rare rocks, fossils, ashtrays, old matchboxes, smoking pipes, cigarette packs and old Chinese publications on display at a private museum only a walking distance from Si Phraya intersection in Bang Rak district of Bangkok.
The Rare Stone Museum is the brainchild of Banyong Lertnimitr, a manufacturer and exporter of garment.
Thai Puppet Museum
Given his love for Thai art, Niwet Waevsamana has turned part of his house into a museum that exhibits his hand-made puppets, together with a demonstration of how they are made, and he welcomes the public to come and view his creations.

If you come across dolls in the form of classical Thai dancers or khon at the duty-free shop at Suvarnabhumi Airport, you might just wonder who made them or where they came from. The answer is a short drive from Pratunam to Soi Moh Leng in Makkasan to a place called Bangkok Dolls House and Museum.

International film festival to go ahead in July
This year's Bangkok International Film Festival will go ahead in July, organisers said yesterday, dispelling rumours it had been cancelled. The 10-day festival would open at SF CentralWorld Plaza on July 19.

Cabinet approves re-opening of Don Muang Airport
